About CBX-LALALA

I have been riding a CBX motorcycle for over 20 years. I will post about FCR carburetor and CBX. I am writing a blog in Japan. This blog is a translation page of https://cbx1000.jp.I am translating 30 articles a month.

All-New post

Installing the cowl on CBX is not difficult.
I received a question about installing a cowl on the CBX, so I will write about it in a column-like manner. Bikini cowls can be easily installed on almost any naked bike. Let's move on with the subject being a frame-mounted cowl.
I love CBX’s painted accessories.
This story uses photos taken at a rental garage. My CBX has a repainted exterior. We also store the normal exterior separately.
Riding is fun when you attach a cowl to a naked motorcycle
Driving review with CBX400F Integra cowl installed on CBX. I'm not talking about how easy it is to drive without the wind, or how it looks, but it's a lot of fun to throw it around and knock it over. My riding technique is rather poor. And if anything, it feels like a straight line number.
Frame mount cowl installation cost – for CBX400F Integra installation
I saw a cowl for the CB750F being put up for sale, as well as a cowl that was attached to the CBX. Just buying it is not the end, so please use it as a reference for what you need and what to do after you buy it. Frame-mounted cowls are not just a DIY job that you can install after purchasing them.
FCR setting-Jet needle replacement-Up change-22/11/08
This is the FCR setting. Current jet needles have a special thread count that sharpens up. It should be 90FXM#3=90FTM#1. I haven't tried it, so I don't know, but it should probably be the same. I'll check it out when I have some free time.

FCR Tuning – Tuning throttle opening from 1/16 to 1/8 – 22/11/06
Regarding the current FCR tuning of CBX, I was concerned about the lower throttle opening. It's not a good idea to get caught up in the air-fuel ratio meter, but a partial reading of 10.5 is around throttle opening of 1/16 to 1/8. It is unclear whether this condition is good or bad.
FCR Tuning – The number of clip stages of the jet needle is determined by the driving feeling
You can enjoy changes in the driving feeling that cannot be seen only with lean or rich FCR influence range. When you wear an air-fuel ratio meter, you tend to look at the numbers and judge whether it's lean or rich.Considering the characteristics of engine revving, etc., there are some areas that are difficult to show in the numerical values. Simply put, you can change the number of clip stages one by one and try the number of stages that gives you the driving feeling you like.

FCR Tuning – Apply filter oil to the ram air filter at the end
This is not a story limited to FCR. While setting up FCR, I often test drive with funnel specifications. The reason is that it is a hassle to attach and detach the ram air filter when turning the air screw. Although it is a ram air filter, even if it is installed and driven with oil applied, it will not affect the settings much.
Tools required for CBX FCR tuning
Racing carburetors such as FCR are not finished once they are installed; with FCR, it is just the start. FCR starts after tuning. This time I will introduce the tools used for FCR tuning of CBX1000. It will also serve as a reference for other motorcycle FCR users. The main focus is on tuning, so if you want to completely disassemble it you will need a separate tool, but this is an introduction to tools for tuning.
Amon 5-pole slim relay surge coil countermeasures
My CBX uses Amon's 4-pole relay and 5-pole relay for the added wiring part. It will be referred to as a relay below. The other day when I was browsing the internet, I found that the current flows backwards after the coil is disconnected. I did not know. The relay is used to turn on and off the position lamp.

FCR cab setting – test run on the expressway and Kizuna Stadium in Iwakuni
I have been told that a Saturday Night meeting will be held at Kizuna Stadium in Iwakuni from 19:00 on October 22, 2022. Along the way, I also tried driving the FCR while checking various air-fuel ratio gauges and paying close attention to the effectiveness of the accelerator pump.
FCR – Test run on the expressway – Check the condition of the main jet
The speed is within the legal speed limit. Fully open the throttle while looking at the gears like 3rd, 4th, and 5th. CBX is a motorcycle with up to 5 speeds. 3rd and 4th gears provide peaky acceleration. When you shift to 5th gear, it won't accelerate comfortably until you get up to a certain speed, but it feels like it will gradually increase the top speed and accelerate.
FCR tuning-AS air screw adjustment22/08/03
I wanted to eat curry for lunch, so I went for a light FCR test run. With my ability, I can't decide on a good screw position in one go, so I just do test runs and try different screw positions from rich to lean.

FCR Tuning – Easy way to turn off the acceleration pump
All you have to do is clip the push rod of the accelerator pump to prevent it from moving. that's all. I will also add a photo, so please check the size and position of the clip. For those using the old CBX FCR, there are two standard carburetors.

Others-New post

FCR tuning – Acceleration pump adjustment – If it is too fast, it will hit the throttle valve.
Write down what will hit you first. I found a case the other day, where the fuel injection from the FCR's accelerator pump hit the throttle valve. The fuel is not being sucked into the engine, but is instead hitting a door called the throttle valve.
Do you have the parts list, service manual, electrical diagram, and FCR tuning manual?
I have written a case where I lent the CBX parts list to an acquaintance. At that time, I also lent them the service manual, power distribution diagram, and FCR tuning manual. I wouldn't say it's essential when doing DIY, but it doesn't hurt to have it on hand and read it carefully for knowledge.
Naked style – CBX looks cooler without a cowl
I posted a naked style photo from a few years ago that came out. I once again felt that the design of the CBX really suits the naked-style round headlights. When it comes to riding, a motorcycle with a cowl is definitely easier to ride.

The cowl is attached to the CBX400F Integra upper cowl using the [CBX] SC06 stay.
It can be changed to a naked specification instead of a cowl installation that cannot be reversed.
The matte black exterior has been changed to glossy black, including the meter, turn signal side cover, and rear fender. Added lines to the front fender.
