I am the owner of a Honda motorcycle [CBX1000] who lives in Hiroshima City, Japan. I am posting about FCR carburetor and CBX1000 customization. I also post about things other than cars and motorcycles. We will post information that will make bikers around the world happy.
I polished the table comstar wheel. After removing the anodized aluminum, the rim and spokes are targeted. I haven't polished the hub and back side. My goal was to polish it with sandpaper from 180 to 2000 grit.
We worked slowly for three months. I did not remove it from the CBX1000 and work on it.
The wheels were sold on Yahoo Auctions.
It is polished and installed.
Probably CB750F. The front wheels are the same. The shape of the rear wheel hub is different.
Work procedure
The replaced wheels have been buried in a corner of the warehouse for several years. I probably won't use it, but I keep it just in case.
We are doing almost the same work.
By alternately using sandpaper and sponge sanding, I reached the 2000-grit level. Then I used a paint polisher. Finally, polish it with metal compound. Finally I applied a barrier coat.
90% is done by hand.
If you paint a completed wheel with clear, it is not suitable when you want to repolish it. I don't like plating paint such as spatter on the rims. It may be okay to spatter just the spokes. The photo starts with the anodized aluminum removed. By the way, the alumite is removed by sandblasting.
I will post photos step by step as much as possible.
There was a lot of work to be done while spraying water, so there was a lot of work outside. I replaced the bearings and painted the iron parts. The comstar wheel is a special wheel that is the result of Honda's ideas and technology at the time.
The work of polishing also refines the mind. It calms your mind.
If you look at the photo, there are not many changes. My mind is disturbed.
Once it has been polished to a certain extent, I use a compound. From the moment you polish it with the compound, it becomes like a mirror.
I spent a considerable amount of time working on it.
When you don't have enough brilliance, it's a sign that your mind is disturbed.
I feel like my mental blemishes are also being removed along with my radiance.
about CBX1000’s wheel
I will try to create a gallery by collecting photos that make the wheels stand out. The age may be different, or there may be something overlapping the photo.
about comstar wheel
Wheels available for CBX1000 include table comstar wheel, reverse comstar wheel, boomerang comstar wheel, cast for CB1100F, and wide rim reverse comstar wheel as a genuine option. These parts can be installed without any modification or with minor modification, and are often available at low prices at auctions. It is compatible with F series vehicles, so my current CB child has a CB750FZ wheel attached to a CB1100F front fork. Among these, 19 inches are table comstar wheel and reverse comstar wheel. The disadvantage of reverse comstar wheels is that your options are narrower when replacing brake calipers. The reverse comstar wheel is a later model year, so there may be some minor benefits. The others are 18 inches, but from a modern trail perspective, the corners are poorly balanced.
18 inches can be fixed by shortening the suspension, lengthening the front fork, or reducing the offset with a triple tree, but since it would sacrifice the attractive steering wheel, I decided to use the RoboHun as is. I am. Of course, there is also the issue of budget. Also, the CB series, including CBX1000, have the same wheels, so it is easy to choose aftermarket wheels, so if you have the money, you should install special wheels. If you have the money, in addition to the wheels, it takes time and money to repair the balance of the car body. There may be cases where the overall situation does not improve. In my case, I think it would be best if the wheels were 18 inches front and rear and the balance of the car body could be adjusted by adjusting the length of the suspension. If you want to spend money on suspension, you can buy the latest motorcycle. It is a normal-like motorcycle.
I only do moderate customization.

A photo of the center stand set up. Vehicle height is high. The balance isn't bad either.
table comstar wheel Polished manual work【summary】
Motorcycles are cool with beautiful wheels and chains! When I was 16 years old, a senior told me about this, and he used to remove all the oil from the chain.
It's a funny story.
But it's a good saying and I still keep it in mind.
We are often asked about work and wheels. If you want to polish it, it may be better to just the rim. It's fine the first time, but the maintainability after the second time is quite poor.
This is when you leave it in a pristine state.
If battery fluid is splashed on the rear wheel, it will turn white and chemically change. It's hard.
The condition is very good for tire replacement. Even if it gets scratched, it can be repaired by polishing it.
When I change tires, I ask a motorcycle shop to change only the wheels.
I've been told that removing the anodized aluminum reduces its strength.
There were no problems when driving on the circuit.
There are no benefits to 19 inches other than the atmosphere and ride height adjustment.
The disadvantage is that the wheels are heavier.
The reason for polishing is that the large area of the wheels draws the eye and makes the motorcycle look beautiful.
I will continue to ride my motorcycle safely so that I don't have to have a second set of repairs due to an accident.
Well then! See you again!
