I am the owner of a Honda motorcycle [CBX1000] who lives in Hiroshima City, Japan. I am posting about FCR carburetor and CBX1000 customization. I also post about things other than cars and motorcycles. We will post information that will make bikers around the world happy.
Repaint – The illustration I provided when requesting the repaint.
I organized my Google Drive and found an illustration that I created when I requested the exterior repaint of my CBX1000. I'll write about it soon. I'm planning to hire a professional for the repaint job.
Professionals usually fulfill client orders by conducting interviews to ensure they meet expectations. I’m also working on a project where I create illustrations and proposals for clients. We ask clients to provide handwritten notes about their goals, which helps us better understand their intentions and makes the process easier for the creator.
When it comes to repainting, having an accurate drawing is important, but if that’s not available, a clear illustration works just as well. You can see how it turned out in the attached photo.

Please refer to the image below. I left the position, thickness, and finish of the lines up to the professional worker's discretion. The original lines on the CBX1000 are also not parallel. When I say "leave it to them," it doesn’t mean that mistakes are acceptable or that they can do a sloppy job. It's better to provide memos, written notes, and detailed illustrations to clearly convey your vision. A professional will understand your intentions and deliver something outstanding.
Before and after repaint
Here are the before and after photos of the repaint. Since the work was done simultaneously with the tank and other exterior parts, there are no issues with color matching or line alignment. The key to achieving a good balance is to have the same professional handle all the work at once, rather than splitting it into separate parts.

Costs of repainting, patterns, and lines
If lines and stickers are available for purchase, it will be helpful for the repaint shop if you obtain them yourself and bring them in. It’s best to consult in advance about the lines and other details before placing an order. Depending on the type of motorcycle and the specific lines, there may be a repaint shop nearby that can assist.
The repaint shop can deliver professional results that you won’t be ashamed of, although some shops may occasionally do sloppy work. Instead of paying upfront, request a quote and consider paying later, or you could offer to pay half the price initially.
For my CBX1000 repaint, the cost was about 100,000 yen, which is quite reasonable. The quality of the work was also good. I tried to give the painter a little extra money as a tip, but he didn’t accept it, so I ended up giving him a generous amount of beer instead.

At repaint shops, the quality of work can vary significantly depending on the craftsman and the facility. I once had some work done at a repaint shop and requested that they charge me a little more than the estimated amount. Unfortunately, the quality of the repaint was still disappointing. Without making any complaints, I decided to try another repaint shop.
There tends to be a strong correlation between price and quality; if a repaint shop or motorcycle shop is expensive, the quality is often higher. Conversely, cheaper options may lead to poorer quality in some areas. The craftsman I hired to repaint my CBX1000 was inexpensive, but with the understanding that I wouldn’t file any complaints. He was recommended to me by a friend who spoke highly of him.
Those who ride older motorcycles may worry about the quality of the exterior. If you want to keep your motorcycle original, consider buying another set of parts to repaint instead. Even with an old motorcycle, you can find exterior parts at auctions.
I encourage you to prepare for your repainting project gradually. I hope you all enjoy a fulfilling DIY life! See you next time!

I will post photos of the repainted exterior on past pages. The meter, engine guard, turn signal, and rear fender have also been repainted in gloss black.
