I am the owner of a Honda motorcycle [CBX1000] who lives in Hiroshima City, Japan. I am posting about FCR carburetor and CBX1000 customization. I also post about things other than cars and motorcycles. We will post information that will make bikers around the world happy.
I've been a bit off track lately with the idea of starting a motorcycle blog, but this is an FCR-related post.
That said, it is related. As the title suggests, I would like to introduce you to the fuel sub tank.
Rather than talking about synchronization, I will briefly introduce the fuel subtank.
① Fuel subtank = Smaller tank used for synchronized work
② Portable can = tank for transporting gasoline
I will write articles about ① and ② separately.
I work on caburetor synchronization deep in the mountains where no one lives.
In many cases, work is performed indoors using a fuel sub-tank called an intravenous drip.
For some people like me who do DIY as a hobby, it may be difficult to run the engine for long periods of time at home.
It's not something that people who know how to do it or who are a little more knowledgeable about it would talk about it much, but
It should be helpful for those who are just starting out. Let's start!
Storing and moving gasoline according to the Japanese Fire Service Act
Gasoline must be carried in a metal case.
Japan has a fire service law.
If you think about it, there are probably very few people who transport gasoline in plastic containers. The reason for this is to prevent gasoline from melting or volatilizing the container and damaging it. If you are using a plastic fuel sub-tank, please leave it with gasoline in it to prevent it from exploding. It's suffocating to say that everything is a law, but
Please be careful as there are some dangers.
About moving sync tasks
When I do synchronization work, I use a vacuum gauge, fuel subtank, vacuum gauge calibration tool,
I travel with a set of tools in my backpack. Gasoline is transferred to the site and transferred to the fuel sub-tank.
fuel sub tank
It is a fuel sub-tank for work use, but I am using a modified carrying pipe.
Gasoline can be taken out from the base, and a quick release is used to connect it to the carburetor.
When I work, I hang the fuel sub-tank from the handlebar. The nipple for taking out the gasoline is one sold at a hardware store, and the vacuum gauge calibration tool is made by combining a syringe purchased at a 100 yen store and a tube purchased at a hardware store.

Deep in the mountains is recommended for synchronization work
Even if you work during the day and there have been no complaints, if you work in a residential area, the neighborhood will not have a good impression of you.
Also, there are some people who don't like motorcycles, so I recommend doing any work like starting the engine deep in the mountains to avoid causing trouble in your neighborhood. Of course, you can wash and clean your car at home, but you need to be careful about the specifications of products such as oil and parts cleaners that can turn puddles rainbow-colored.
Some people who don't like motorcycles will complain if they see even the slightest smell or dirt in a shared space in their neighborhood.

For FCR beginners – Securing a work place
It is important to secure a place to store chemicals and tools and a place to work.
I keep them separated between my home and my parents' house. As for the work space, a rental pit can be rented at a rental garage, so I use that when I can't move for a long time.
In the first place, if you are going to repair it yourself, you will need to secure a place.
If you have to secure your own work space, there will be additional costs involved.
It may be a little more difficult, but
Which part will you work on?
How long will it take?
Where will you work?
It is better to consult the staff at a motorcycle shop or an expert knowledgeable about motorcycles and proceed with the DIY step by step.
There are some people who lend us their tools and space free of charge.
After all, there are cases where you have to be careful, damage tools, and don't have free time.
It is necessary to draw a line to some extent between areas to rent and areas to prepare on your own.
If you limit yourself to FCR tunings, the tools and chemical locations will also be limited.
It may seem like a lot, but it's enough to fit one backpack and move around.
If you have someone willing to help you with the FCR work, it may be a good idea to be patient as a beginner. Even if you rent tools or space, it is often not a big burden for the person renting the equipment.
FCR6 synchronization and fuel subtank【summary】
When performing DIY synchronization, depending on the model of car, moving gasoline may be a problem.
In reality, if you limit the tools and things you carry, it can fit in one backpack,
Working after moving is not that much of a problem.
If there are screws or bolts that need to be attached or removed, it is better to have spares available in case you lose them, or to make sure that you will not be unable to drive if you lose them. In the case of FCR, there are cases where the jet needle clip and quick release rubber gasket fail, so I always carry spares.
Thank you for reading this far even though you are busy tuning up FCR.
Please be careful about traffic accidents and enjoy your FCR life.
See you again!
