I am the owner of a Honda motorcycle [CBX1000] who lives in Hiroshima City, Japan. I am posting about FCR carburetor and CBX1000 customization. I also post about things other than cars and motorcycles. We will post information that will make bikers around the world happy.
How is FCR's past history managed?
There are various ways to manage your information, such as using a dedicated app, a notebook, or managing it only in your memory.
I have been keeping track of my history since the very beginning when I started using FCR.
Even if you say that the history is kept, there are some parts that are not kept.
In some cases, it may not be enough to just touch the screw,
If test runs are involved, the history is generally recorded.
It can be a great way to remember things, including what you did in the past.
In some cases, the oil level is low or the vacuum gauge needle is not calibrated, and the preparations before tuning are not made, and the machine conditions may become fundamentally meaningless compared to the past, but at least It may come in handy someday.
Since tunings are not made using notes, the more knowledge you have, the better.
What tuning sheet do you use?
I Google Sheets - Spreadsheet
I'm using a cloud app called.
You can operate it on your smartphone, and you can also operate it on the cloud just like Excel.
The weak point is that if the battery runs out, you won't be able to do anything.
As a precaution, I carry a charger and mobile battery with me.
Less risk than losing paper and pen.
I would like to include at least one photo of a motorcycle per article.
It has nothing to do with this blog post.
FCR-For beginners-tuning sheet
The items to be written on the tuning sheet are described in the FCR tuning manual.
It is also a good idea to add items to write down in your own way.
Some items specified in the manual may be omitted.
Temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity are particularly difficult to measure.
At least, beginner riders who have written a tuning sheet and saved their past history are more likely than experienced riders who have not written a tuning sheet.
Your ability to write tuning sheets should be at the top.
As you write, you will definitely discover something new, so beginners should keep a good record of their writing.
It is important to keep . It's always helpful to have a tuning sheet and ask questions to a veteran.
About professional tunings and amateur history taking
Up until now, I have asked several professionals to set it up for me. I have never asked a professional at the level that is widely known on the internet. I have asked someone who knows a little bit about it, a local motorcycle shop, or a custom shop that also does racing. It depends on how much you want to set it up. FCR is an iterative AB test. When determining tunings on Dynojet, we have experience with tunings on similar motorcycles in the past and compare them with those motorcycles. Even if you have a good tuning, if you don't compare it to something else, is it really good? Is it bad? I don't know. Of course, there is no single answer as there are environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. FCR can move and run even with sloppy tunings, and if you touch something, there is often a change. For this reason, some shops set MJ etc. to a richer tuning, In many cases, the screws are adjusted, the number of clip stages is adjusted, and the product is handed over to the customer. When it comes to tunings, there is no end to it. The first step is often to finish it in about a day. In some cases, we refer to the history of a motorcycle that we have thoroughly researched many times in the past. For tunings that will be completed in one day or a short period of time, make the oil level even, touch the PS screw, touch the AS screw, touch the clip, set the MJ to a slightly thicker number, and adjust the throttle opening to 1/2. I think it would be good if I could run after checking that the speed would rise roughly from 2 to 3/4. If the shop has Dynojet, they should be able to measure the maximum speed power. With the above information alone, FCR can run quite well. And even in areas with four seasons, you should be able to ride all year round.
The following is the difference between a professional and a Sunday mechanic. Professionals cannot spend all their time on one individual. Therefore, comparisons cannot be made. The only people who can make comparisons are the individual and the rider who usually rides that motorcycle. If you ask a professional, they will give you a number close to 100 points. Only owners who have a lot of time can score 100 points. It was about comparison. When you hire a professional, depending on the shop's policy, they may do the above at a high level or at a low level. If you are tuning up a major motorcycle after installing a new FCR, you should be able to finish it in about a day. When tuning up for more than one day, There are some items that take time to measure. Professionals cannot do the exact tunings, so if you want to try out FCR yourself, For now, it would be better to just ask for a cheap setup until the engine starts and can run. It might be good. Some shops will even teach you how to touch something if you ask them to pay you money. there is. Is it right to pay a lot of money if I don't know a little about caburetors myself? Is it bad? cannot be determined. By the way, professionals deliver at a high level. If you tell them your symptoms, they will give you accurate advice with a high probability. However, history and minor repairs cannot be done by professionals. Because I don't usually ride it.
Did you get a general idea of the importance of taking history and how to take history?
In most cases, the first step is to have the FCR installed at a pro shop.
Please get a paper copy of how the tunings are done at that time.
You can receive it if you request it.
FCR can run as long as the engine is running and you don't make the AS and MJ extremely thin.
I have a little concern here. In some cases, AS and PS are set differently for each cylinder. It is set based on the engine sound and rotation speed.
In such cases, it is better to ask the shop staff for specific instructions on how to do it, and have them teach you in front of you, as it only takes about 30 minutes. Just AS is fine. If the screws are aligned the same on all cylinders, there is no problem or anxiety even if you suddenly touch them yourself. If it is difficult to touch the AS yourself, there is no problem in aligning all four cylinders with the AS return position. Regarding AS, I look at whether there is a feeling of power at a very low opening from clutch engagement to start. Even if you touch the PS, you can probably adjust the throttle opening around that level, but currently I try to return the PS to somewhere between 1.00 and 1.15 minutes.
By the way, in my case, for AS, CBX1000 uses the same return screw for all 6 cylinders, rather than each cylinder separately. It is difficult to notice the changes in AS return and PS return even if each cylinder is separated.
If you look at the blowback of gasoline, you may want to try changing numbers 1 and 6. ,
Currently, I am unable to find any differences in the tunings for each cylinder.
There may also be a problem with machine tunings.
If I find out anything new, I'll post again.
Well then, enjoy your FCR life!
See you again!
