Rental Garage – CBX400F Integra Cowl Specifications

I use part of a motorcycle shop as a rental garage for my CBX1000. I haven’t taken many photos since I switched to the CBX400F Integra cowl setup. I’m honored that the shop said it would be no problem, as my motorcycle will serve as their signature vehicle. After riding, we always wash the motorcycles and make sure to remove any dirt from the front before parking them in the garage. I park mine in a spot where it's visible to others, so I like to keep it clean.

"A CBX400F Integra cowl is installed, and the stay uses a mount from the later model CBX1000. Although some minor adjustments were necessary, the installation is nearly bolt-on. If you were to install the CB750F series Appa cowl, it would probably look too large and give the motorcycle a stubby appearance. The custom parts have also been relocated, so if you own a CBX1000 or CB-F and are considering customization, feel free to use this as a reference. I’m aiming to maintain the overall balance of the motorcycle's body.

Tips to keep your motorcycle looking clean

This is my personal approach to keeping a motorcycle looking clean. One key is to ensure the wheels and chain are spotless. Whether they're clean or dirty can really give an impression of how well the motorcycle has been maintained. Removing rust is part of the process, but simply keeping the wheels and chain clean makes the motorcycle look exceptionally tidy.

Another common issue is the deterioration of resin parts. When resin parts become whitish or dull from sun exposure, it gives the motorcycle an aged appearance. Fortunately, there are waxes that can restore the original black finish of resin. Using these products can help keep your motorcycle looking newer.

On my CBX1000, the resin parts are painted glossy black, so they don’t lose their shine, but I’m still careful to protect them from sun exposure. For painted surfaces, I use Wako's Barrier Coat after a light wash with a neutral detergent. For the chrome-plated parts, including the front fork, I apply an oil-based wax.

After riding, I often find small insects stuck to the headlights, so I make sure to wash them off before putting the motorcycle away in the garage. The wheels have a mirror finish, and the engine maintains a solid aluminum look. The head cover and handlebars are chrome-plated, giving the motorcycle a clean and polished appearance.

The wheels have been polished, and the head is plated. The resin parts are painted in glossy black, and since the engine guard functions like a subframe, it was also painted in glossy black. The front end is almost entirely from the bolt-on CB1100F, with Brembo CNC calipers installed on both the front and rear, thanks to the CB1100F suspension.

We initially swapped the front end with the CB1100F to take advantage of Brembo's bolt-on kit. While it might look like flashy customization, in most cases, it's simply a matter of replacing worn-out parts with aftermarket options. From another perspective, the overall balance of the motorcycle hasn't changed much, so it still feels almost stock. We've also repaired or replaced engine and ignition components where needed, often using external parts.

The grip, however, remains original and untouched—I haven’t changed it in over 40 years. It may be the only part that hasn't been modified, processed, or repainted. Nearly everything else has been either polished or replaced.

We will continue to keep everything in top condition. See you again soon!
